Dr. Sharline Aboutanos presents at the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) 2016

Dr. Aboutanos traveled to Atlanta, Georgia in April of this year to participate in and present at the annual American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) meeting. ACPA is a national group of medical providers dedicated to the care of children and adults with cleft and craniofacial conditions. Medical providers include cleft and craniofacial plastic surgeons, pediatric dentists, orthodontists, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, pediatric neurosurgeons, psychologists, geneticists, speech and feeding therapists, and nurse coordinators. As a member of the ACPA-accredited Cleft and Craniofacial Team at St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Aboutanos presented her group’s research regarding the novel electronic medical record her team uses. This abstract highlights the benefits of the Cleft Team at St. Mary’s team model. This year’s presentation was Dr. Aboutanos’ eighth presentation at this forum.

Dr. Aboutanos completed a fellowship in craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery with nationally acclaimed surgeon, Dr. Louis Morales, Jr., in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She has been on several mission trips to Ecuador, Guatemala, and Honduras.
