Renew Your Winter Skin with the CO2RE Laser

Whether you love chilly nights and shorter days or spend this time of year dreaming of summer, there’s no denying that the cold and dryness of winter can wreak havoc on your skin. Not only does it zap moisture and cause dullness, it can also amplify other concerns, such as signs of aging and scars.

While a great at-home skincare routine can both help prevent skin damage and, to some extent, offset damage that may have already occurred, sometimes we all need a little extra help. That’s why I am pleased to now offer my patients treatment with the CO2RE laser at my Richmond plastic surgery office.

How the CO2RE laser works to help you enjoy healthy, beautiful skin

Over the past decade, cosmetic laser treatments have soared in popularity as a way to help promote healthy, beautiful skin and smooth over some of the most common concerns. As we learn more about cosmetic lasers and how best to meet patient needs, there have been numerous advancements in technique and technology. With the latest generation of lasers, we are now able to provide more dramatic results with less downtime.

The CO2RE laser is a prime example of this evolution. With six different modes and shapes and dual wave function, it is able to address a variety of both surface level and deeper concerns at the same time—all while encouraging the production of collagen and new skin cells to improve the overall health and appearance of your skin.

Because the CO2RE laser uses two different types of laser wavelengths simultaneously, it can provide quicker results with less downtime than traditional fractional lasers. Additionally, it is safe to treat a variety of skin types and a number of skin concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Acne and other scars

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Uneven skin tone and texture

  • Large pores

  • Age spots

Your CO2RE laser skin resurfacing experience

After we’ve met for a consultation and agreed that CO2RE is a good fit for you, it’s time for your treatment. I will begin by applying a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort and then carefully and precisely pass the laser over your skin. Expect the process to take an hour or two.

We’ll end by applying a protective ointment to help facilitate healing and then you can get back to your normal routine. While there is nothing preventing you from returning to work or running errands, it is important to keep your skin hydrated and protected throughout the recovery process with gentle moisturizers and ample sunscreen.

It’s normal to experience a bit of redness, peeling, and residual swelling for about a week after your treatment, though most patients are pleasantly surprised by how quickly their skin heals; it will feel a little like a sunburn during this time. As the skin remodeling process begins, you should start noticing that your face feels softer, looks smoother, and has a new radiance.

Let’s work together to give you a summery glow all year round
